Just a Pitch LLC will be featuring "Family History" this year at the Roots Tech family history conference. It will promote family history-related products and businesses. As part of the Roots Tech event February 27 - March 2, 2019, venders will represent over 150 business groups and organizations. The employees of Just a Pitch LLC will be in the group, sharing products in the exposition hall. They won't be pitching their own products, however, but those of signed clients. Potential business clients can sign up to advertise their products through Just a Pitch's website, www.Justapitch.com. Upon registering, they will choose the category which is most relevant to their product then pick an advertising option. The client can then provide necessary information to Just a Pitch, who will learn more about the product for marketing and demonstration purposes. Instead of attending the event themselves and paying booth fees, these businesses can "get in" at a much lower cost. Stefan Wood, the founder of Just a Pitch, said Monday, "We have the option of businesses doing their own pitch. If they choose this option, they can come to the exposition, and using our booth, they can do their 10-minute pitch… several times throughout the weekend." Wood continued, "But if they prefer just handing it over to us, we will do the pitch. We will summarize their product and promote exactly what information they would like us to promote." Companies may ask why his approach to advertising is more effective than doing it online or through other avenues. He said, "Our main selling point is real-life interaction--bringing the product to life. When you stand in front of people, talking about how it's real to you, suddenly they're like, 'Wow, I can see how this applies now,’ and ‘check!’ you have a lead." The Just a Pitch website says, “There are product-owners out there who may not feel that their product could ‘make the cut.’ This is the very reason we step up. We want to ease the pressure and take over the hard part. We deliver your product to your target-market at a low cost through ‘Just a Pitch.’” Wood shared that one avid family historian who attended one of his presentations appeared skeptical in the beginning. ”She had a sort of grimace,” he remarked. But as he moved through the presentation and clearly explained the product, she appeared to change her mind and became interested. He said, “It was refreshing to see her lighten up and essentially say, 'Wow, this is a legitimate product. This works for me.'" This historian, who will be unnamed for privacy purposes, looks forward to attending Roots Tech this year, her fifth time attending. On top of the option of visiting over 150 venders in the expo hall, there are also over 150 breakout sessions or classes touching on a great variety of family history topics. Each year she attends, she picks out her desired classes and put them in her “Schedule” on the Roots Tech App. Sources: Interview by Austin Wood, MBA of BYU Roots Tech Website: www.rootstech.org Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RootsTech Just a Pitch website: www.justapitch.com Weebly - Family History ExamplesGo to Weebly Here: Weebly Basic Tutorial: A New Beginning
How in the world did you get to the United States? Or how was it that you got to Idaho? I am sincerely interested. Immigrant Ancestors There is a BIG chance that someone in your family line immigrated from a very far distance to come to this, the Promised Land. What a blessing that is for you and me. I recently found out that my and my wife’s great grandfathers settled part of Cache Valley TOGETHER and they served alongside each other in the local government. How awesome is that? A New Year, A New Beginning A new year quickly approaches. New Years Day has actually been my favorite holiday for many years. The idea of a NEW BEGINNING excites me. I love setting new goals and looking forward to new opportunities. This new year, we of the family history committee have plans to begin a monthly activity which we ancitipate to be fun and eye-opening. It’s simple, really, and everyone should be able to participate. Here is the basic plan: 1) Each new month we will have a theme. This theme will be tied to experiences and memories of our ancestors 2) Each individual will find photos and details of the specific theme among their ancestors 3) We will share our findings with each other on a specified “Story Night” and enjoy some treats. And that's it! We connect with our ancestors and we connect with each other. It doesn’t get any better than that. Would you like a sneak peak at our January theme? Well, here you go. January’s Theme will be: “A New Beginning - Our Immigrant Ancestors” We invite you to get started! Here are some steps you can take: 1) Open Family Search on your device of choice 2) Sign-in with your username 3) Open up your family tree 4) Click on any of your grandparents from generations back 5) Click "Memories" and search and see if any life stories have been added there. If not, you might move on. If so, start reading! Were they an immigrant?? 6) When you find your immigrant ancestors, find their best photo and copy and save it. Also, record where they came from and where they settled. Be prepared to share this. We can’t wait to find out how YOU got here. May God Bless and Heal Us in Our Efforts We of the family history committee are eager to help you in your efforts. We can help you find your immigrant ancestor. Please let us know. Friends and Neighbors, What would you say are your current feelings are about family history work? The other day, I personally found the history of my Great-Great-Great-Great Grandfather who immigrated from England to this promised land. He traveled a VERY far distance and sacrificed a lot. He actually ended up dying on the plains leaving his wife and son, my Great-Great-Great Grandfather. I was saddened yet impressed with their story...one I had NEVER heard before! Engaging in this work will likely have many effects on you as it has had on us, the family history committee. We have experienced our hearts being pricked, a hope to discover more, and even JOY as we have served our ancestors. We must acknowledge, however, that we have experienced feelings of inadequacy as we have looked at the many tasks before us. This can be a daunting work. BUT we should not become discouraged. The most important thing is to try. And to keep trying! Where to start? We are eager to help you get started. If you allow us this opportunity, we commit to go at your pace and according to your needs. We want to help you find the healing and joy that come through connection. Connection with your family, with neighbors, and most importantly, the Spirit of the Lord. We have already begun visiting homes and introducing families to the fundamentals of this work. We would like to visit YOU. Will you consider doing these things to help us to connect: 1) Download the Family Tree App to your phone or tablet: Google Play App Store: Family Tree IPhone App Store: Family Tree 2) Join our Facebook Group & follow our Instagram page Facebook: Family History for Healing Hearts Instagram: FamHistoryforHealingHearts We sincerely hope to hear from you. We need this work in our lives more than ever before. May God Bless and Heal Us in our Efforts My grandpa is 97 years old. And still a sharp sharp man. Why has he been preserved in this way? What is sustaining him?
A couple of years ago, I finally clued into the fact that he won’t be with us much longer… and that there are some things that really need to be done. What, though? I asked. His legacy. For the last 1.5 years, I have made efforts to connect and discover the precious man my grandpa is. It has been my pleasure coming to know him more fully and learning his story. His life is a blessing to my family. I have finally caught the bug of family history. I used to only care about my own photos and history but now I feel like my things are currently of less importance. Grandpa’s life has the power to serve all his posterity now more than any other family member. And through our efforts together, his legacy has begun. Because I have this bug, I yearn to share it. How can I reach others and call out the goodness of family history work on the rooftops…with my abilities and talents? As of today, I am conjoining my Just a Pitch efforts with this great cause. I must give them my heart at this time, until I have filled this capacity. I must take serving others in this way seriously. I will be building a library of resources, pitches you might call them, for the researchers that so need them. Keep your eyes peeled as I hope to discover and share the BEST resources. May God bless and heal us in our efforts. Stefan
I admit, I have been really bad this month. I worked out a total of 2 times! Now, I know I'm fatter. But I haven't lost hope! The fact is, I want to work out more. It makes me feel and look better (hard to believe, right ;)).
I have a feeling that more than I have had a bad month. I have wondered if mid-summer tends to clobber people. I know that the heat messes with me and that I have to really focus if I don't want to crash. Perhaps there are others in Idaho Falls that would say the same. Some of you may fall into the following categories: 1) Have you slowed down this summer in your personal exercise program? Gained a little extra weight? 2) Are you feeling tired of your current gym or exercise plan? Need something new? 3) Do you spend too much on your current exercise program? Feel like it's eating the budget? 4) Do you feel like your current program lacks a good social environment? And you want a new work-out friend or group? 5) Is it time to start working out but you honestly don't know where to start? If any of these match your situation, you're not alone. Exercising can easily become last priority for many individuals if we aren't careful. Well, this may not be the answer, but I'm going to give it a shot. I have a plan. It's called a Pitch Parade. A Pitch Parade is where a group of us go from place to place and get the low-down of each location in a specific industry. On Thursday, August 9th, we are going to several Gyms and Fitness groups. This will give us a chance to check out some of the options out there in a non-threatening and effective way. Each gym/group will give us just a pitch and tour of their place, we'll discuss our likes and dislikes, and then we'll head to the next. Pretty simple. We currently have plans to go to the following gyms: YMCA Gold's Gym Warehouse 13 Crossfit Amrock I'd like to go to Apple as well but they haven't returned my call. >:( Join the Pitch Parade! Mark that you're interested in the link below and we'll keep you posted:
